The Queries Odysee Wins — 1.2 Million Monthly Searches, Top Result for Sale

Published July 19, 2026 · OdyseeWatchdog Investigative Team

Our search-exposure audit has documented for months that Odysee's top result for benign public-interest terms is whatever a wallet staked the most LBC on. The obvious objection: maybe nobody searches those terms. So we bought the answer from Google's own advertising data. They do. In enormous numbers.

QueryGoogle searches / month
"israel"1,220,000
"ukraine"1,000,000
"ivermectin"450,000
"covid"246,000
"vaccine"110,000
"january 6"90,500
"holocaust history"1,300

Volumes: Google Ads keyword data (US), July 2026. Some categories (health, politics) are withheld by Google Ads and excluded rather than estimated.

What "winning" a query means on Odysee

On Google, ranking is contested by relevance signals. On Odysee, ranking is bought: search orders results by effective_amount — LBC staked on the claim. Our TrollCow investigation documented the cleanest case: the #1 result for "israel" — a term 1.22 million people Google every month — was purchased outright with a 114,573-LBC stake. There is no "sponsored" label. A user searching a term of mass public interest cannot distinguish an organic result from a paid placement, because on Odysee there is no difference.

The discovery pipeline is mainstream

The same data run measured Odysee's web footprint: 16.5 million backlinks from 44,680 referring domains point at odysee.com. This is not a sealed-off corner of the internet — ordinary web infrastructure, embeds, and links feed users into a search surface whose first result is for sale. That is the context in which the platform's missing DSA transparency reporting should be read: DSA Article 27 requires platforms to disclose the main parameters of their recommender systems. "Whoever pays the most crypto ranks first" is a main parameter.

Ongoing measurement

The demand numbers now live directly on the search-exposure page next to each query, and the underlying audit refreshes twice daily from Odysee's own API. As always, the raw data is public: seo_metrics.json · search_ranking.json.
